It includes a dog show, spaghetti-eating contest, a tug-of-war between the Soho police and fire service, morris dancers, and snail racing. It’s also home to the famous Soho Waiters’ Race, where local waiters hurtle through the streets with a glass and bottle of fizz balanced on a tray.

Hot Air Balloons Over London (Weather permitting!)

The Lord Mayor’s Hot Air Balloon RegattaĀ® first launched in 2015 and was intended to be an annual event, but it’s actually only happened four times - with covid and then bad weather scuppering plans over the last few years.

If the weather holds up, a fleet of up to 50 colourful balloons will take to the skies at 5.30am from Battersea Park on Sunday. Fingers crossed, you should be able to see the whole parade of balloons floating peacefully above iconic London landmarks Buckingham Palace and the London Eye, to the Tower of London and Tower Bridge later on Sunday morning.

You can find updates for this year’s regatta and whether it’s going ahead on their website.

Date: Sunday 20th July (Approx 5.30am-8am)

(If the weather doesn’t play ball, then Sunday 27th July is the backup date)
